Michal Trabka is a consultant urological surgeon. He is appointed at Specialistic Hospital in Sandomierz, Poland, in his NFZ (NHS) role. He qualified in medicine with honours in 2001 and trained in Lublin, Lubartow and Stalowa Wola before taking a substantive post in Sandomierz.
He undertook surgical and urological training in the Lubelskie and Mazowieckie region before transferring to Lublin to complete his subspecialist training with training posts at Community Hospital in Lubartow, Provincial Hospital in Poznan, Kolejowy Specialist Hospital in Lublin, Department of Urology and Urological Oncology, Medical University in Lublin as a senior registrar with a particular focus on ureteric and kidney stones and laser prostate and bladder tumours surgery.
During his time in UK he took his duties as a Specialist Registrar and Associated Specialist at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, Scotland;
Since arriving in Podkarpackie and Swietokrzyskie region he has built a strong reputation for high-quality minimally invasive kidney stone, bladder tumour and prostate surgery and has introduced advanced prostate and bladder tumour diagnostic and treatment modalities to the region. Michal has introduced TURPiS 2.0, HoLEP, TURbT – and laser energy TUR to the patients.
He is the regional representative for training registrars and regularly attends meetings as well as being an active member of the Polish and European Society of Medicine, Urology section to ensure he is up to date with state-of-the-art urology.
In his free time he enjoys diving, playing strategy games, reading his beloved Fantasy and Science Fiction books and globetrotting
Michal has a subspecialist interest in the management of kidney stones, PUJ obstruction, bladder tumours and prostate enlargement. He offers a comprehensive surgical stone service including flexible ureterorenoscopy (telescopic laser surgery), laser lithotripsy and percutaneous nephrolithotomy including mini-PCNL (keyhole kidney surgery).
Throughout his training he has maintained a broad interest in general urology and looks to provide the highest possible standard of care for common urological conditions including hydrocele repair, vasectomy and vasectomy reversal, epididymal cyst excision, circumcision, treatment and surgery for varicoceles including keyhole repair.
The bulk of any urologists practice is prostate surgery and Michal offers a range of surgical procedures to suit the individual including holmium laser prostatectomy, bipolar and monopolar TURP and has been instrumental to the introduction of HoLEP to the region with the recent purchase of a high-powered laser.
Michal takes an interest in the assessment and management of patients with visible blood in the urine and patients with prostatitis, recurrent urinary tract infection and bothersome urinary symptoms, much of which can be managed with the right medications and advice.
